Katie Kirkpatrick, 21, held off cancer to celebrate the happiest day of her life. Katie had chased cancer, once only to have it return-to clog her lungs and grab hold of her heart. Breathing was difficult now, she had to use oxygen. The pain in her back was so intense it broke through the morphine that was supposed to act as a shield. Her organs were shutting down but it would not stop her from marrying Nick Godwin, 23, who was in love with Katie since 11th grade.

See Jade Goody (of Big Brother fame) who died of cervical cancer on Mothers Day leaving 2 children, and got married only a couple of weeks beforehand to long term boyfriend Jack Tweed and sold the sorty to Hello Magazine – now thats what you call a celebrity coup. And actually, sadly, caused a huge rise in the amount of British women who went for cervical smears in the UK (including myself) – and possibly saved many hundreds of lives.

Definitely made me cry. You know that guy will be heartbroken forever. It’s people like this that make the world a better place. To give up…not just your life… but your happiness so that someone’s last days can be worth the pain, is an amazing thing.

Reminds us how fragile and beautiful life is, and how we take this gift for granted. Trust in God, live every day like it’s your last, hold onto love and hope, be kind, give love and help others, because in the end, that’s all that matters. How much money you made, what kind of car you drove, how big your house was- none of that will matter. After watching this I went to hug everyone in the house. It’s amazing how a story like this can affect so many people in such a profound way. That’s what love does- it’s like a ripple effect- it goes on to bless more people than you’ll ever know!
